Who is eligible for ESI Registration in India?

To be eligible for ESI registration, an establishment must have at least 10 workers, although in certain regions, the requirement may be higher at 20 employees. In addition to this, there are several other criteria that must be met to obtain ESI registration.
Employees with a gross salary of up to Rs. 21,000 per month can avail of ESI benefits with the help of their employer. The establishment must also be registered with the EPFO. The total contribution to ESI is 6.5% of the gross salary, with 4.75% contributed by the employer and 1.75% contributed by the employee.
For industrial units where there is a risk of injury or health issues, all employees with a salary of less than Rs. 21,000 must compulsorily register for ESI.
